چکیده :
High torque ripple usually causes a number of problems in electrical machines, including mechanical vibration, acoustic noise, and subsequently the equipment lifetime reduction. In induction motors, complementary methods such as proper selection of stator/rotor slot combination and slot skewing are used as the two common ways to alleviate the torque ripple issue. However, all portions of this torque ripple could not be eliminated by these conventional methods. In this regard, this paper introduces a modified asymmetric double skewed rotor (ADSR) as a possible alternative to skewed designs to decrease the torque ripple. The study, first, investigates a novel rotor structure and its manufacturing aspects. Later, the torque ripple reduction mechanism of the proposed structure will be presented, and then the optimum parameters will be determined based on the airgap harmonics elimination. Finally, three-dimensional finite element (3D-FE) models will be developed to verify the effectiveness of the optimum calculation.
