چکیده :
Full model 3D simulation of large synchronous generators (SGs) is challenging in terms of modelling and computational burden, because these generators have long axial lengths, and their end regions include a lot of components with complex geometrical details. Most of 3D models for large SGs concentrate on the end region simulation, due to more concerns about end region leakage flux and eddy current loss. Although in the end regions air gap increases, larger components of the magnetic field are created in these regions and results in more power and power loss. This paper investigates the contribution of different end region elements on power and power loss of a 120MW SG. The effect of 3D model axial length on the torque, and eddy current loss of different end region components is studied.
