چکیده :
This paper presents a novel method for diagnosing open-circuit faults (OCFs) in the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive. The system is modeled using the Mixed Logical Dynamic (MLD) framework, and fault detection is performed based on the Current Residual Vector (CRV) and the analysis of positive and negative sequence components. A fault is identified when the CRV magnitude exceeds a predefined threshold, and the faulty switch is determined according to the angular sector of the CRV. The proposed approach, due to its model-based nature, operates independently of the main controller, making it suitable for closed-loop systems. By monitoring the deviations between estimated and measured currents in the positive and negative sequences, the method can accurately detect and locate both single- and multi-switch faults. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified through comprehensive MATLAB/Simulink simulations.
