چکیده :
This paper presents a high-performance sensorless control scheme for synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM) drive using sliding mode observer (SMO) for rotor position and speed estimation. The SMO is designed based on back electromotive force (Back-EMF) components of the SynRM in the stator reference frame. The stator currents and voltages components in the stationary reference frame are received as inputs of the SMO and estimated rotor position and speed are provided from estimated Back-EMF components as outputs of the observer. Moreover, in order to improve the efficiency of the overall drive system, a loss minimization approach called maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) is used in order to reduce the rotor chopper losses when operating in steady-state. Finally, simulation results are taken from MATLAB/SIMULINK to confirm the effectiveness of the sensorless control system for SynRM with SMO.
