چکیده :
A gate driver, acting as a crucial interface between the control circuit and semiconductor switches, plays a decisive role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and stability of power electronics systems. A review of conventional isolation methods shows that cored transformers, despite their reliability, face significant limitations due to their large size, core losses, and high cost. In recent years, coreless printed circuit board (PCB) transformers have been introduced as a novel alternative, which reduces size and cost while eliminating saturation and hysteresis problems. However, their fundamental limitation in transmitting wide pulses presents a challenge for their use in driving Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs). In this paper, a new structure based on the combination of a coreless PCB transformer with an edge-type clamping circuit using back-to-back Zener diodes is proposed. This combination shapes the pulse edges and stabilizes the amplitude, enabling the transmission of wider and more stable signals. To evaluate its effectiveness, the proposed circuit was designed and simulated in ANSYS Maxwell and PSPICE environments. Its performance was then experimentally investigated by constructing a laboratory prototype.
