چکیده :
Linear electrical machines are widely used in automation and industrial applications due to their efficient direct conversion of electrical energy into linear motion, outperforming traditional rotary-to-linear mechanisms. In applications requiring precise position estimation of linear motion, linear sensors are commonly employed, with resolvers being the preferred choice for their robustness in harsh and polluted environments. However, similar to other linear machines, resolvers are affected by end effects, which degrade their performance. This paper presents a solution to mitigate the impact of end effects on the induced voltages by modifying the resolver's structural design. Moreover, a new constant turn concentrated winding is suggested to be replaced with variable turn type, that makes the manufacturing process and maintenance easy and straightforward. The effectiveness of the proposed modifications is verified using the finite element method (FEM). The results demonstrate significant improvement in the accuracy and performance of the linear resolver, validating the proposed approach.
