چکیده :
Eddy current loss accounts for a substantial portion of stator winding loss in large synchronous generators (SGs). Although accurate estimation of Eddy current loss in active part of winding is straightforward, in the end region, Eddy current loss calculation faces more complications. This paper deals with winding end part Eddy current loss calculation taking into account circulating currents. The circulating currents are injected in different strands in 3D finite element (FE) model by applying proper boundary conditions. The results of end winding loss calculation considering circulating current shows notable differences in loss distribution compared to equal current injection to winding strands.
