Vibrational Analysis and Optimization of the Stator End-Winding Support System for a Medium-Power Turbo-Generator with Enhanced Roping Configuration

چکیده :
This study investigates the vibrational characteristics of the stator end-winding for a medium-power turbo-generator following modifications to the roping configuration. In the previous design, misalignment between the top and bottom bars forced operators to apply excessive pressure, resulting in significant stress on the top bar and occasional insulation damage. To address this issue, a new roping configuration was proposed and implemented, effectively resolving the misalignment problem. Since stator end-winding vibration is a critical failure mechanism in electrical motors and generators—primarily caused by electromagnetic forces—the natural frequency of the end-winding was determined and analyzed through the experimental modal analysis with the bump test approach. This technique was conducted to ensure that resonance with external forces, which could lead to future failures, is avoided by verifying the frequency margins.
