Common Mode Voltage Reduction in PMSM Drives Using Model Predictive Control

چکیده :
In this study, a control method based on Model Predictive Control (MPC) is proposed for the drive system of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). In addition to optimal current and torque control, the method significantly reduces the Common-Mode Voltage (CMV). CMV is a major challenge in electric drive systems, as it can lead to increased electromagnetic interference (EMI), bearing leakage currents, and reduced lifespan of electrical and mechanical components. In this work, a new term is added to the MPC cost function to minimize the CMV, and a strategy is proposed to reduce current ripple caused by the elimination of zero voltage vectors. First, the modeling of the two-level three-phase inverter and the dynamic behavior of the PMSM is carried out. Then, the MPC controller is designed to reduce CMV while maintaining high-quality current and torque control. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, simulations are performed in MATLAB/Simulink, followed by practical implementation on a DSP processor. The simulated and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method provides accurate motor current control with minimal error and significantly reduces CMV compared to conventional methods, thereby improving the reliability and extending the lifespan of the motor and related electronic circuitry.
