چکیده :
Nowadays, monitoring of the status of high-voltage equipment has received considerable attention than ever before. In the case of electrical monitoring methods for high-voltage rotating machines, partial discharge measurement is used as a reliable and accurate method for identifying and locating faults. Partial discharge measurement has always been influenced by various factors such as the machine operation conditions, temperature and humidity, which especially affect the electrical measurement of partial discharge. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the characteristics of partial discharge pulses and the type of rotating machine insulation faults. The information gathered during partial discharge tests on more than 25 large hydro generators to determine the insulation status of these generators. We found a significant relationship between PRPD pattern diagnosing method for fault detection and the proposed method based on PD pulse characteristics. The results confirm that using the PD pulse characteristics method can be used as a complementary criterion for identifying fault types where PRPD patterns are hard to be interpret.
