Fabrizio Marignetti Experiences and advancements in cryogenic motors and generators Electric machines cooled with super cold temperatures (cryogenic cooling) are still under development. This technique makes them work better and use less energy by reducing resistance and internal energy losses. However, it's expensive and complex, and requires special materials that can handle the extreme cold. Researchers are looking for ways to make cryogenic cooling cheaper and easier to use in things like power generators, electric cars, and ships, especially for smaller machines that need a lot of power. These cooling systems typically use special fluids and techniques. A scientific paper explores this topic in more detail. It explains how these superconductor machines (SCMs) work and the different cooling methods used for motors and generators. It also discusses the materials and fluids involved, as well as potential future advancements in this technology. This information can help engineers and designers understand cryogenic electric motors and decide if they're a good option for their projects. The keynote will cover:
- Introduction - State of the art of superconductors - Cooling methods - Case Studies - Copper and aluminum wound machines - Conclusions.

Peter Sergeant The presentation is focused on developing synchronous electric machines that have a low environmental footprint. This is achieved in several ways. Firstly, we increase energy efficiency and power density of axial and radial flux synchronous machines by changing ferromagnetic materials (e.g. grain-oriented steel), by improving cooling, …. A second way to obtain sustainability is to reduce the amount of polluting materials (e.g. NdFeB magnets), and to use production techniques with low material waste. Therefore, we study additive manufacturing for windings and ferromagnetic parts. A third important aspect for sustainability is lifetime: by studying reliability of electric drives, lifetime can be increased so that electric machines do not often need repair or replacement.
